This one day course is for all levels of personnel requiring a foundation in the essentials of Health & Safety. On completion of the course the candidate will be able to recognise the need to work safely and not put either themselves or others at risk; to understand the role the individual employee and the employer has regarding health and safety in their place of work in terms of organisation (the H&S management system); reporting and communication; know how to identify hazards, risks and the importance of risk assessment in developing safe systems of working; recognise how industry affects the environment and the importance of minimizing waste. Assessment is by way of a 30 minute closed book multiple choice question paper and a hazard spotting exercise. Upon successful completion of the assessment, the candidate will receive an Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) certificate, which is valid for 3 years.
