This course is for people who currently have a valid First Aid at Work (FAW) certificate which is due to expire soon, or has just expired.
Note: the requalification course has to be completed within 28 days of the expiry of the old certificate, or the full course needs to be retaken over 3 days.
For those candidates who take the requalification before the old FAW expires, the new certificate will expire 3 years from the date of expiry of the old one.
Course content for the re-qualification is exactly the same as for the full 3 day course, but as candidate knowledge is being refreshed and updated rather than completely new, the teaching time is 12 hours rather than 18.
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is:- unconscious (including seizure); in need of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR); choking; wounded and bleeding or suffering from shock.
- Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds and small splinters
- Administer first aid to a casualty with: injuries to bones, muscles, joints, including suspected spinal injuries; chest injuries; burns and scalds; eye injuries or sudden poisoning; anaphylactic shock.
This course can also be run as 2 x 1 Days.
