Aluminium Extrusion
A UK Aluminium Extrusion Manufacturer required a management/control system for a new automated warehouse.
We decided that a MCS/SCADA system consisting of a custom made tool number and store location database was needed. Real-time data tracking was put in to allow the operator to interrogate each tray for its tool information wherever it is in the system. Two PLC’s were installed; one controlling the crane movements, and the other controlling the conveyor system.
The following was implemented:- FDS, Crane and Conveyor control panels build, PLC/PC hardware supply, PLC and MCS/SCADA s/w development, FATS, onsite commissioning, final documentation, and training.
An infra red serial data link between crane and conveyor PLC's was installed, along with automatic tool scheduling communicating directly with the customers existing AS400 computer. The crane has variable speed traverse, hoist and forks and manual crane override facility.
Adsyst supplied all proximity sensors and light beams.
Adsyst also supplied a STAHL coded positioning system which provides a continuous and accurate position set point for both the traverse and hoist axes.
